Uncle Oskar, sheep farmer and bachelor, exerts authoritarian parenting on the 11 year old boy (the film’s narrator), simultaneously courting the boy’s mother. It is this popular story of "Uncle Oscar" by Torvald Sund that is transferred to film.

I came upon a strange collection of photos from the 1890’s. It was as if one of Edvard Munch's paintings from that period came alive and I could step into them. Carl Størmer used his detective camera to capture random scenes from the street life of Christiania (Oslo). He was photographing people and situations, their glances and intimate reactions in a way one wouldn't think was possible at the time.
